Biden's Weakness Undermines Global Security
Callow foreign policy results in the advance of tyranny
13 March 2022
In late January 2021 Joseph R. Biden was sworn in as President of the United States. It took only a few days before foreign tyrants began to test the resolve and determination of the known plagiarist who accomplished little in over 40 years in DC (38 in the Senate representing Delaware, eight as Vice President).
First out of the gate was Burma (or Myanmar) where the Army overthrew the democratically elected, but thoroughly corrupt, government on February 1st, 2021, mere days after Unity Joe took over. The muted, tepid response from Washington would set a trend. While Biden demonized Americans for their failure to follow his obsession with jabs, allowed our borders to be serially violated every day and frequently divided Americans with his hateful rhetoric of political opponents, he had little to say about Myanmar and did even less. This set a tragic precedent.
Next came Russia where in March 2021 Vladimir Putin moved 70,000 Russian troops to the border with Ukraine. In stark contrast to the December 2021 to February 2022 saber rattling Joe managed, long AFTER Putin saw Biden’s weakness, last year Joe did virtually nothing. No SWIFT transaction bans, no oil sanctions, no economic isolation, no billions in weapons or jet transfers to Ukraine. Had Joe not been so weak in March 2021, we might not be in the mess we find ourselves today.
A series of coup d’états in Africa got even less attention from the man who thinks Black folks love him. First came Chad on April 20th, 2021. Then Mali on May 24th, Guinea on September 5th, and Sudan on October 25th. Let’s not omit the attempted assassination and coup of president elect Mohamed Bazoum on March 31st in Niger. Biden said virtually nothing about any of these unlawful suppressions of democratic norms. He did even less.
Perhaps Joe will have a better track record in 2022. Sadly, it does not look like that will be the case. A coup in Burkina Faso on January 24th, Justine Trudeau’s morally bankrupt invocation of the Emergency Powers Act (meant for national security and natural disaster threats, not noisy truckers) and then Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24th have ushered in another year where liberty is on the retreat around the globe while the Shining City on a Hill sits silent and does nothing to halt the misery.
The examples of Biden’s own efforts to undermine liberty at home are too numerous to discuss in this article on his callow foreign policy. But his weak foreign policy is even worse than the examples I have mentioned here. For instance, North Korea, emboldened by weakness in Washington is launching intermediate range missiles once again (something they gave up while Trump was in office).
Shifting gears to the Ukraine crisis, Biden and his inept envoys have not only done too little, too late, they also ratcheted up the temperature, almost guaranteeing Putin would invade. Biden’s empty threats failed to deter anyone, let alone an entrenched autocrat with nuclear weapons at his disposal in Moscow. He was too slow to arm Ukraine (something he learned from his old boss Barack). He was too quiet diplomatically. He was too timid in punishing Putin when he should have: a year BEFORE the invasion. Shockingly, the cognitive dissonance in the party of Jackson, Wilson and Roosevelt (all racist bigots) over Ukraine is astounding. Many bylines and hours of broadcasts have been devoted to blaming Trump and ignoring Biden’s culpability in this invasion.
Make no mistake: this is an illegitimate conflict, launched by an empowered autocrat, propped up by oil and mineral exports and weakness in Biden. Russia is to blame for the war and its unfolding horrors. But the tragic comedy of leftists trying to attach this to Trump, whose resolve, and warnings to Putin, combined with low energy prices likely gave Putin pause for four years, is bizarre. This is Joe’s war, one he wanted, and he has gotten, not Trump’s. Those skyrocketing prices at the petrol (gasoline) pump, out of reach commodities and food are squarely a consequence of weakness in Washington DC.
If for an instant you may think this assessment of the Biden regime is harsh, consider the recent debacle in which the Biden Administration intentionally ensured the public knew it was in talks with Warsaw to transfer its 28 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in the middle of a war. Yes, Joe let us know he was doing something, anything to fix the Ukraine mess. Only, DC was not earnest in its disclosure. Biden never had any intention to backfill NATO ally Poland if it gave its MiGs to Ukraine. When that became apparent, Warsaw called Biden’s bluff, offering to fly to Ramstein Air Base in Germany and hand them over to the US Air Force for delivery to Ukraine. The world should NEVER have known about these discussions. But in its never-ending quest for legitimacy, the Biden Administration wound up looking like fools.
In just one year in office, Joseph R. Biden has easily earned the title of the worst president in the history of the United States, an impressive achievement given some of our past failures. If we were a middling size country with little influence over global events, this would simply be a tragedy for Americans. But the United States remains the unipolar power despite Beijing’s crimes and efforts to challenge America. Failure in the White House affects the world, not simply Americans. We can weep for Ukraine, but our turn may be next with this abject and colossal failure in the White House.
